AppZero Series “Virtualize to Modernize”

Shows how to run Solaris 2.6 and 7 applications unchanged on Solaris 9 and 10

Application virtualization innovator AppZero announced a two part webinar series designed to offer no nonsense guidance on moving Solaris 2.6 and 7 applications to modern operating systems (OS) and hardware. Combining a slam-dunk value proposition with fluff-free technical guidance, the series is suitable for decision makers and technical leaders.

The first event, Virtualize to Modernize, is scheduled for Thursday, March 3, 2011. The company states that the value proposition of moving these applications unchanged to modern Solaris operating environments is so clear that only a 30 minute segment is required for introductory explanation and audience discussion.

The follow-on event scheduled for April 7th, is a detailed, technical how-to session titled, "How to Run Solaris 2.6 and 7 Applications Unchanged on Solaris 9 and 10."  This one hour Webinar walks through the process of virtualizing/encapsulating Solaris 2.6 and 7 applications so that they can run unchanged on Solaris 9 and 10.  The intention is to delineate the use cases and considerations, as well what the solution can't do.

Commenting on significant momentum in Solaris application virtualization, Greg O'Connor, AppZero CEO said, "There is some irony in the fact that, as a recognized innovator in moving applications to and from the cloud, we are experiencing a high volume of business in virtualizing Solaris applications that are, in IT terms, ancient. The interest is high because both the problem and our solution are real. Applications running on wheezing, life-supported hardware are in danger of bringing down important - if not critical - parts of many businesses.  As word spreads that AppZero can quickly, painlessly, and inexpensively solve the problem and eliminate the risk, business is escalating and we are capitalizing on that momentum with this webinar series."
